We listened, explored, and tested—now, here’s everything you need to know about Naked Prosthetics’ Third Generation Devices.
The world of prosthetics is advancing rapidly and here at Naked Prosthetics (NP), we take pride in driving innovation—developing devices we can stand behind and, most importantly, delivering solutions designed to meet the needs of the finger and partial-hand amputee population.
This launch is not just another iteration, it offers enhanced functionality, durability, and user experience; here’s a closer look at all its unique features:
VaporFuse Surfacing Results in
More Durable Devices
This processing technique enhances both the surface finish and the toughness of our printed components. By sealing the surface, it boosts the overall durability of the part, making it more resistant to water and chemicals.
Design Improvements That Matter
Click Strap – One of the standout updates in NP’s Third Generation Devices is the introduction of the all-new Click Strap enclosure, a design improvement inspired by valuable feedback from our wearers. We deeply value these insights, as they help us continually refine our products. Developed in-house by our experienced team of engineers, the Click Strap enclosure delivers essential structural support to the strap system, ensuring enhanced stability and reliability for wearers who require additional reinforcement.
Recessed Stitching – The recessed areas protect the stitching from abrasion and provide an optimal fit against the back of the user’s hand, ensuring longevity, reliability, and comfort.
Nail Tip Extension – All body driven devices and Single Articulating Tips now feature a nail tip extension that adds a more anatomical look. This extension aids in picking up small objects, further improving the device’s usability and versatility. The nail extension is also the same across all devices so users who wear more than one type of device will have a consistent look and feel across their devices.
Personalization at its Finest
We recognize that every user is unique, and to support their individuality, the Third Generation Devices provide an elevated level of personalization. With three levels of visual customization—nine new colors, five modern textures, and eight colored screw options—our body-driven devices (PIPDriver, MCPDriver, and ThumbDriver) can be tailored to suit our wearers’ style. The GripLock Finger, our positionable mechanical device, is available in the same color palette as well though we cannot texture those devices.
Upgraded Materials and Processes
Improved Strap Textile – The new strap textile, selected for its softness and durability, provides enhanced comfort and support to our wearers as they take on their daily activities. This focus on comfort and durability extends to the specific designs of our Click Strap and Classic Strap.
The Classic Strap design, a Naked Prosthetics standard since the introduction of the MCPDriver and ThumbDriver, now features upgraded Velcro for a stronger hold and an improved D-ring enclosure for enhanced comfort. It remains our recommended option for bilateral wearers who may find the added length helpful for easier donning of the device.
Screw Enhancements – We have refined our hardware as well as the connection point between the linkages and the backplate for improved performance, ensuring that users can trust their prosthetic to endure the demands of their day-to-day routines, whether they are engaging in work, sports, or hobbies:
- Diamond-Like Coating (DLC) – Screws are now treated with DLC, making it highly resistant to wear and abrasion while simultaneously reducing friction at hinge points.
- Torx Screws – Replacing hex screws, Torx minimizes the risk of stripping.
Continued Prosthetics Innovation
Strength and durability are essential for prosthetic devices, particularly for those returning to an active lifestyle. Engineered with advanced materials and techniques, our prosthetic devices are designed to be more robust, ensuring they can endure daily activities without compromising functionality or comfort.
Naked Prosthetics’ Third Generation devices represent the continuous evolution of prosthetic technology, reflecting our commitment to innovation and supporting individuals living with finger and partial-hand amputations.
